Raising Awareness, Saving Lives

Challenge

Do you know what a stroke looks like when it’s happening? Would you know what to do if you thought a friend or loved one was having a stroke? Not enough people do, and the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services asked us to help them change that in Big Sky Country.

Banik Solution

  • We used a two-pronged solution: educate the public on the dangers of stroke, and the best ways to identify and respond to a possible stroke.
  • To make a strong impression we used strong visuals, demonstrating that even healthy individuals can be susceptible to stroke. The devastating effects of stroke are communicated in order to impress the importance of swiftly identifying and responding to a potential stroke.
  • Support pieces highlighted the key points, and newspaper ads listed in detail the signs, symptoms, and responses that every person should know.

Banik Results

Recall of stroke warning signs increased by as much as 21% in markets where the campaign ran, with knowledge of stroke risk factors increasing by as much as 31%. Anecdotal reports by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services show that the campaign may have saved several lives due to faster response to strokes by those who’d seen the campaign.
