Challenge

After years of planning and research, community leaders in the Northcentral Montana Community Ventures Coalition selected Banik Communications to help them launch their operating identity. It was December of 2004, and the group wanted to launch their new organization a month later in front of the Montana State Legislature.

Banik Solution

• In spite of the urgency of the timeline, we insisted on doing our homework before the design work began. The Banik team compiled insights into the various groups who would become Opportunity Link’s audience: policy-makers, rural residents, Native Americans, public agencies and private corporations, municipalities, agricultural and educational institutions. Recommendations for names and taglines were presented to the board. Thus, Opportunity Link was born: Uniting People. Linking Resources. Fighting Poverty.
• The colors of the new identity were selected specifically for their appeal to American Indian audiences and the connotation of positive power and strength. The logo was designed to show equal and enduring connections.
• Identity materials and a capability brochure were quickly developed for an event in the State’s Capitol. The new organization, its identity and goals were introduced in an onscreen presentation and reprinted on promotional materials.
• We also developed, designed and implemented a web site incorporating a unique, custom-built administrator user interface, which allows for easy modifications, updates and other content management for Opportunity Link. The site was designed to grow with the needs of Opportunity Link and incorporates such features as newsletter sign-up capability, download sections, dynamic calendar, interactive maps, and other custom-built web features.
